Two brothers from Albuquerque are facing federal charges related to firearms offenses. Riley Kellner, aged 22, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment claims that on August 10, 2024, Riley had a firearm and ammunition despite having a prior conviction for shooting at or from a motor vehicle. He appeared before a federal judge and remains detained awaiting trial.

His brother, Adin Kellner, aged 26, is facing 11 counts of making false statements during the purchase of firearms. The indictment states that between October 8, 2019, and February 24, 2023, Adin falsely declared himself as the actual buyer on ATF Form 4473 when he was acquiring firearms for another person. Adin has also appeared before a federal judge and has been released under certain conditions pending his trial set for December 16, 2024.

If convicted, Riley could face up to 15 years in prison while Adin faces up to 10 years. "U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Brendan Iber, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives," announced the charges today.

The cases were jointly investigated by the ATF and Albuquerque Police Department with Assistant United States Attorney Jaymie L. Roybal prosecuting both cases.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
