ALBUQUERQUE – APD homicide detectives charged two individuals in connection to the Aug. 24, 2024, murder of 19-year-old Christian Aragon during a dispute over an ATV.

Guillermo Muñoz Delgado, 29, is accused of fatally shooting Aragon while Muñoz Delgado fought with one of Aragon’s friends in the area of 1013 Florida St., S.E. Muñoz Delgado, who was already in custody on drug trafficking charges, is charged with an open count of murder with a firearm enhancement, three charges of kidnapping, three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and tampering with evidence.

Today, detectives also charged Trinasha McDaniel, 34 for kidnapping and tampering with evidence.

Witnesses told detectives the dispute started early on Aug. 24 when Aragon and his friends were at a smoke shop at 118 San Pedro Dr. S.E., just off Central Ave. After purchasing items inside the smoke shop, the group noticed McDaniel arrive with an ATV. Aragon expressed interest in buying the ATV and wanted to take it for a test drive.

McDaniel and an acquaintance argued over whether she should sell the ATV. Aragon and one of his friends helped start the ATV, and Aragon took it for a ride. When Aragon did not return with the ATV, McDaniel and some acquaintances became agitated and suspected theft.

A man known as “Gucci,” later identified as Muñoz Delgado, produced a silver revolver and pointed it at two of Aragon’s friends. He forced them into their vehicle and ordered them to take him to where Aragon said the ATV broke down.

Upon arrival at Florida St. near Ross Ave., they saw Aragon waving at them with a flashlight. As individuals exited the vehicle, they began arguing. Muñoz Delgado produced a revolver again; one of Aragon’s friends started fighting him over the gun. Muñoz Delgado allegedly fired one round, striking Aragon. Aragon was armed with a handgun and fired several rounds back, striking Muñoz Delgado.

After this exchange of gunfire, one of Aragon’s friends chased Muñoz Delgado through the neighborhood. Despite efforts to save him, Aragon succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Surveillance footage showed McDaniel picking up Aragon’s handgun and fleeing from the scene through several yards.

Homicide detectives identified Muñoz Delgado as the suspect and secured an arrest warrant on Sept. 7, 2024. He is currently held at Metro Detention Center.

McDaniel is wanted by police for her charges related to this incident.
