A fire began earlier this afternoon at the Cerro Colorado Landfill. As of 4:45 PM, the fire is contained and the plume of smoke from the fire is no longer visible from the Sunport.

Forecast models show that smoke from California wildfires may begin to affect Albuquerque Thursday morning. Particulate levels are not expected to be high enough to warrant a health alert, but skies will likely become hazy. The City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department will continue to monitor smoke from California fires.
