Hazardous Materials Can Spark a Fire

Keep trash from being a fire risk this summer and all year long by being vigilant about never putting potentially combustible items in trash or recycling bins!

Hazardous materials can spark a fire when compacted inside a garbage collection truck or ignite a fire at waste collection sites. Among the materials that should never be put into the trash are batteries, pool chemicals, cleaning products, paint or varnish, motor oil or BBQ propane tanks. Also be sure to let barbeque coals cool for at least 48 hours before dousing with water, bagging them up and putting them in the trash.
