The Torrance County Commission announced it would hold Zoom meetings to help improve public participation in meetings in the wake of COVID-19, according to a press release.
Until now, the commission has been holding meetings that were audio-only and could be heard from either the bridge option or on the radio at KXNM, the press release stated. The county was hoping to bring about a better option for citizens to participate in the meetings.
“It’s important for the public to both see and hear their elected leaders at work,” Commission Chair Ryan Schwebach, a Republican, said in the press release. “A Zoom Commission meeting will allow the public to participate in just about the same way that they would if they were in the room with us.”
The commission held its first Zoom meeting on April 22, the press release stated.
