Finalists for UNM teaching center director to hold public forums

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has announced the finalists for the position of executive director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, James Holloway, shared that the candidates will visit the campus starting March 26.

The role involves overseeing a center that offers various initiatives such as support for students, tutoring, peer-learning facilitators, and workshops for instructors. The CTL is recognized as a Learning Center of Excellence by the National College Learning Center Association.

The open forums will take place in Room 110 of the Center for Teaching and Learning Building. Each day follows a consistent schedule: presentations from 9:45-10:45 a.m., faculty open forums from 11-11:45 a.m., and staff open forums from 1-1:45 p.m.

The candidates include Linda Adler-Kassner from the University of California, Santa Barbara; Erin Shortlidge from Portland State University; and Nicholas Monk from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Each candidate brings significant experience in teaching and learning to their respective campus visits on March 26, March 28, and April 2.

Isaacson, Miller is coordinating this search process. The UNM search committee includes Caleb Richardson as chair along with several other faculty members across different departments.
