Dianne Dixon, a former standout golfer at the University of New Mexico, has been elected to the United States Golf Association's (USGA) Executive Committee. This marks a historic moment as she becomes the first former USGA Boatwright intern to achieve this position.
Reflecting on her new role, Dixon expressed surprise and gratitude. "I didn’t have this on my bingo card, that’s for sure," she said. "It’s humbling and a huge responsibility to be serving the game in this capacity. It’s like holing out on a 500-yard par 5—some luck, some skill, and a lot of help along the way."
Dixon's career is marked by significant contributions to golf. She has been involved in managing junior tournaments and officiating major competitions such as the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open. Her involvement with First Tee chapters across the country has made golf more accessible to young players from diverse backgrounds.
"It’s incredibly rewarding to see how even the smallest opportunity can change a life," Dixon noted about her work with youth programs.
In addition to her extensive experience in tournament management and charitable efforts linked to events like the PGA Tour's Houston Open, Dixon has served as a USGA committee member since 2004. Her academic achievements include earning an MBA from the University of Houston.
"Learning how to manage time, prioritize, and compromise were all skills I honed as a student-athlete," she stated regarding her educational journey.
As part of the USGA Executive Committee, Dixon will contribute to shaping golf's future through initiatives like the U.S. National Development Program and committees focused on foundation and rules of golf.
Her leadership role signifies not only personal achievement but also an ongoing commitment to advancing the sport she loves.
