Melanie Stansbury, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Mexico's 1st district, has been vocal about various issues affecting her constituents. In a series of tweets, she addresses concerns related to trade tariffs, historical recognition, and healthcare.

On March 18, 2025, Stansbury expressed concern over the impact of tariffs on New Mexico's economy. She stated that "Last year, NM imported almost $2.3 billion in goods from Mexico and $855 million in goods from Canada." Stansbury criticized Trump's tariffs for potentially increasing costs for essential goods amid rising food and housing prices.

Later that day, she highlighted the importance of preserving Indigenous history by recognizing the contributions of Navajo Code Talkers during World War II. Stansbury remarked that "Navajo Code Talkers were instrumental in the United States and our allies winning World War II." She condemned the erasure of their stories from military websites as dishonorable.

On March 19, 2025, Stansbury shared her visit to Santa Rosa at the Guadalupe County Hospital in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District. She emphasized the need for expanded rural healthcare services by stating "These are the dedicated people who make it happen! And this is why we need to expand rural healthcare, not take it away!"
