Rep. Melanie Stansbury, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New Mexico’s 1st district since 2021, has recently expressed her concerns through a series of tweets addressing various issues affecting the education sector and other governmental matters. Her posts reflect on recent policy decisions and their implications for educators, citizens, and national administration.

On March 12, 2025, Rep. Stansbury questioned the normalcy of recent actions such as "trying to erase history, firing educators, and dismantling the Department of Education." She emphasized solidarity with the Department of Education and educators impacted by these developments. "Trying to erase history, firing educators, and dismantling the Department of Education — does any of this seem normal?"

Later that day, Stansbury highlighted the effects of policy decisions on individuals in New Mexico. She criticized what she described as reckless cuts by Elon Musk and the Administration that have disrupted lives in her state. "Every day, Elon Musk and the Administration’s reckless and careless cuts are impacting real people—real New Mexicans whose lives have been upended."

In another tweet from March 12, she referenced polling data indicating a lack of support for actions taken by Musk and former President Trump. She mentioned several controversial issues including "firing veterans and teachers," data hacking concerns, attempts to "shut down Medicaid," economic challenges, and unusual events like holding car shows at official venues. "The polling is in and Americans do NOT support what Musk and Trump are doing."
