Melanie Stansbury, a U.S. Congress representative for New Mexico's 1st district, has shared her thoughts on recent events through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her perspectives on the passing of a fellow congressman, political actions by former President Donald Trump, and the legacy of an influential activist.

On March 5, 2025, Stansbury expressed her sorrow over the death of Congressman Sylvester Turner. She wrote, "I am absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of Congressman Sylvester Turner—who I was just talking and laughing with on the House Floor yesterday." She praised him as "a kind, dignified, and dedicated public servant."

The following day, March 6, 2025, she commented on actions taken by Donald Trump and his administration. Stansbury stated that "We are not going to sit around and normalize the things Donald Trump and his Administration are doing." She further remarked that these actions are often neither normal nor legal.

Later on March 6th, Stansbury honored Cecile Richards for her contributions to reproductive rights as well as labor and voting rights. In her tribute post she described Richards as "a titan—not just for reproductive rights but for labor and voting rights as well." She emphasized that Richards' legacy will endure across generations.
