Bernalillo County, N.M. – Bernalillo County is preparing for a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff as PNM evaluates the need to reduce wildfire risk in the East Mountains on Thursday, March 6. PNM has not yet decided to proceed with the power shutoff.

If implemented, non-emergency services in Bernalillo County may experience adjustments. PNM will notify customers who might be affected by such a decision.

In case of a power shutoff, certain BernCo facilities will close to the public. Parents and guardians should plan alternative arrangements for children attending after-school programs at these locations.

The Bernalillo County Office of Emergency Management provides tips for managing during an outage, including guidance on electrical equipment, food safety, home precautions, and generator use.
