Bernalillo County is putting forth a detailed list of project requests to state lawmakers during the ongoing 60-day legislative session. The county has outlined its main legislative priorities for 2025, focusing on affordable housing, behavioral health care, public safety, early childhood education, and expanding its animal care facility. Each of the five districts within the county has also specified its own legislative priorities.

District 5 is represented by BernCo Board of Commissioners Chair Eric Olivas. This district covers much of east-central Albuquerque and extends into the East Mountains, which are predominantly rural areas. The district's priorities for 2025 aim to support communities on both sides of the mountain and address their infrastructure needs.

Chair Olivas is backing several capital outlay requests from partners on the Albuquerque City Council in council districts 7, 8, and 9.

For more information on Bernalillo County’s District 5 resources, infrastructure projects, and amenities available in the area, further details can be accessed online.
