The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) and Gordon Bernell Charter School are collaborating to host a holiday event for the children of inmates at MDC. The gathering is scheduled for Saturday morning at Gordon Bernell Charter School in Albuquerque, aiming to provide an opportunity for these children to celebrate the holiday season with their loved ones.

Activities planned for the event include a visit from Santa Claus, who will distribute gifts and spread holiday cheer. Additionally, children will have the chance to decorate cards for their parents at MDC. An estimated 100-150 children are expected to attend this festive occasion. The tradition was initiated over two decades ago by Mr. Gordon Bernell, a former employee of Bernalillo County, along with his wife.

Media representatives are invited to cover the event.
