Albuquerque prepares for annual Twinkle Light Parade with over 125 entries

The annual Twinkle Light Parade, a cherished holiday event for Albuquerque families, is set to illuminate Nob Hill on Saturday, December 14, starting at 5:15 p.m. This year's parade will feature 125 entries, including marching bands, fire trucks, show vehicles, and dance groups. Participants will compete for the coveted Best in Show title.

Mayor Tim Keller expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "This is a holiday tradition that Albuquerque families really look forward to every year, including my own. It brings us all together to create lasting memories, a time to shine for community, business and all of us."

Central Avenue will be transformed into a festive mile-long celebration from Washington Street to Girard Boulevard. To facilitate the event and allow attendees to explore local shops and restaurants in Nob Hill, Central Avenue will close to traffic at 3 p.m.

More than 4,000 individuals from local businesses, nonprofits, schools, community groups, and families are expected to participate this year. Jessie Brown of Los Burros shared her excitement: "Our friends and our families have participated every year in the Twinkle Light for the last 12 years. We all get together a month in advance to start building decorations and lighting up our vehicles."

The event promises entertainment regardless of weather conditions as it is scheduled rain or shine. The University of New Mexico (UNM) is offering a Park & Ride service with free parking available at Lomas Boulevard and University Boulevard's southwest corner. Shuttle buses will transport attendees from 3 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., running between Johnson Field near Girard and the parade route's end.

The Twinkle Light Parade receives sponsorship from iHeart Media.
