Coronavirus forces UNM off campus and online

Unm

In response to the spreading COVID-19 pandemic, the University of New Mexico will finish the school year online.

The university had originally planned to begin classes April 5 following an extended spring break.

The state of emergency declared by the federal government in addition to state and local government emergency orders prompted the university’s decision to roll out the remote format for students.

Students have also been directed to move off-campus in the interest of public safety.

University President Garnett S. Stokes assured students administration will continue striving to create a safe and healthy place for students to learn while shifting the focus to further developing and refining virtual learning environments and services in the release.

In addition to moving learning online, the university is closing access to its libraries, Student Union Building, classrooms, recreation center and other community areas.
