UNM Online has recognized several instructors for their participation in the Foundational Course Design Review, an initiative designed to improve online learning for students at the University of New Mexico. The program, which operates with support from the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL), provides instructors with instructional design guidance and feedback through an external review process.
The initiative is based on UNM’s Online Learning Excellence Framework, which outlines best practices for online teaching and student engagement. Instructors who took part in the review received a $500 stipend and were given insights into effective online teaching strategies. They also advanced toward earning the Golden Paw Certification, UNM’s highest recognition for excellence in online courses.
“Instructors received personalized instructional design guidance and valuable feedback through an external review process. This initiative is grounded in UNM’s Online Learning Excellence Framework, a set of best practices focused on enhancing online teaching and student engagement. Their efforts reflect a deep investment in student success and a passion for continuous improvement in teaching,” according to the announcement.
Instructors recognized include Yury Bosin (POLS 320: Middle Eastern Politics), Marjori Krebs (EDUC 563: Mentoring for Professional Growth), Jesse Aleman (ENGL 2620: American Literature II), Tammy Thomas (PH 474/574: Maternal Child Health Seminar III), and Adam Papendieck (OILS 597: Capstone).
