Giving Tuesday, an internationally recognized day dedicated to charitable giving, is being marked with renewed efforts from the University of New Mexico (UNM) through its UNM Gives campaign. Organizers are encouraging members of the university community to consider supporting the United Way of North Central New Mexico (UWNCNM) as part of this year’s initiative.

The UNM Gives campaign aims to address significant needs in the local area by supporting UWNCNM programs such as the 211 Helpline, the Family Advocacy Center, and Laundry Love. These services are designed to provide assistance across various sectors of the community.

In addition to supporting UWNCNM’s work, donors can use the campaign as a way to contribute to other organizations that matter to them. Any nonprofit organization with a 501(c)3 IRS designation—including food pantries, alumni associations, or museums—can receive funding through United Way if selected by donors.

Donations can be made via the UNM Gives portal at UNM United Way – Pledge Now! :: UNM Gives | The University of New Mexico. The platform allows for one-time or recurring donations through payroll deduction or credit card. Donors have the option to direct their contributions into the Community Investment Fund or specify another nonprofit by selecting “I wish to direct how my gift is invested in the community,” which provides a menu for entering any qualifying organization in the United States.

Although the official end date for this year’s campaign has passed, organizers note that donations will continue to be accepted through December 15, 2025.

“Thank you for everyone who has contributed so far and making a difference in the community!”
