The University of New Mexico (UNM) will host its annual Research and Discovery Week from November 6 to 14, 2025, offering more than 50 events across its campuses. The week-long series is open to faculty, staff, students, and community members, with exhibitions, workshops, lectures, performances, and other activities scheduled throughout the university.
This year, the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is introducing a new Sched calendar tool. This tool allows attendees to customize their schedules by selecting preferred events and adding them to a personal itinerary.
Research and Discovery Week was launched four years ago by the OVPR to highlight the university’s research efforts and promote available resources for researchers at UNM. According to UNM Vice President for Research Ellen Fisher, “Each year, Research & Discovery Week continues to not only grow in the number of events but also in the vibrant list of interdisciplinary projects that we have to showcase. This week serves as a tribute to the efforts of researchers, scholars, and artists who are pushing the boundaries of knowledge and weaving a narrative of innovation and creativity that resonates far beyond our state lines.”
The event aims to raise awareness about the range of research conducted at UNM and strengthen collaboration within and beyond the university community. Organizers hope that the week will further diversify research, innovation, and creativity at UNM.
Among the scheduled events are the Fourth Annual CASAA Research Day, performances by the UNM Symphony Orchestra, open houses, guided exhibits, discussions on multilingualism, symposia on artificial intelligence in education, and workshops on research protocols. The program also includes keynote lectures by Poppy Crum and Nobel laureate Paul Modrich.
On November 14, an expo titled “UNM Research Advances New Mexico” will highlight research with positive impacts on the state. The event is expected to draw representatives from government, industry, and community organizations. There will also be interactive demonstrations aimed at engaging students and the public in research activities.
For a full schedule of events and details on how to personalize participation using the Sched calendar tool, attendees are encouraged to visit the university’s website.
