The University of New Mexico (UNM) will hold its fall 2025 commencement ceremonies on December 11 and 12 at University Arena, also known as the Pit. The graduate ceremony for master’s and doctoral students is scheduled for December 11, while the undergraduate ceremony will take place on December 12. Both events are set to begin at 6 p.m.

A total of 2,050 degrees and certificates will be awarded across all UNM campuses this fall. Of these, approximately 1,912 degrees will be conferred by the Albuquerque campus. An official degree count will be finalized after the ceremonies.

The breakdown of degrees includes 1,262 bachelor’s degrees, 459 master’s degrees, 123 doctorates, 14 juris doctorates, six medical doctorates, 44 graduate certificates, and four education specialist credentials. UNM’s branch campuses are also participating: UNM Gallup will confer 54 associate degrees and 25 certificates; UNM Los Alamos will award 17 associate degrees; UNM Taos will present 15 associate degrees and 12 certificates; and UNM Valencia will grant 13 associate degrees and two certificates.

Official programs detailing the order of each ceremony will be available prior to the events at graduation.unm.edu. The ceremonies can also be viewed via livestream on UNM’s social media channels as well as through the university’s Class of 2025 website.

During the graduate ceremony on December 11, Amber Gallup will receive the Tom L. Popejoy Dissertation Prize for her dissertation titled “The Development of Identity, Self-Efficacy, and Persistence Intentions Among Frontline Healthcare Apprentices.” According to the release: “The Popejoy Dissertation Prize is presented in recognition of the highest level of academic excellence in the social sciences and education. This semester, eligibility was for the period spanning spring 2022 through fall 2024. The award is one of UNM’s most distinguished honors for graduate students, recognizing original, impactful and innovative doctoral research.”

In addition to these main events, several schools and colleges within UNM are organizing their own convocation ceremonies for graduates.

For further details regarding student instructions or guest information such as parking arrangements or schedules for convocations held by individual schools or colleges within UNM can be found at the Class of 2025 Fall Commencement website.
