University of New Mexico programs achieve high marks in U.S. News & World Report rankings

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has been recognized in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings, with several of its programs placing among the top in the nation.

UNM’s School of Engineering received its highest placement, ranking No. 96 among undergraduate engineering programs at schools where the highest degree offered is a doctorate. The university also earned spots in four other categories within the top-150 nationally: undergraduate psychology (No. 113), computer science (No. 117), nursing (No. 118), and business (No. 150).

Institutionally, UNM ranked No. 136 among Top Public Schools and No. 242 out of 438 institutions in the National Universities category, which includes both public and private universities.

According to U.S. News & World Report, “the rankings are based on in-depth analyses of a wide variety of data points, as explained in the Best Colleges Undergraduate Programs Rankings Methodologies.”

Within New Mexico, UNM holds the highest national rankings for overall best university, undergraduate nursing, top public school, undergraduate engineering (doctorate), and business schools.

U.S. News & World Report has compiled these rankings for nearly four decades, assessing almost 1,500 four-year bachelor’s degree-granting institutions across ten main categories that compare colleges and universities with similar academic missions.
