Representative Melanie Stansbury, currently serving New Mexico’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared her thoughts and experiences through a series of tweets. Stansbury, who succeeded Deb Haaland in 2021, continues to advocate for her community while addressing pressing national issues.

On March 20, 2025, Rep. Stansbury concluded the second day of her tour across the East Mountains and Land Grants. She visited Chilili, Tajique, Manzano, and Mountainair, where she participated in a school assembly. Emphasizing her commitment to community advocacy, she stated: "We will never stop fighting for our communities."

The following day on March 21, 2025, Stansbury addressed the issue of food insecurity via Twitter. She criticized former President Trump and the GOP for their policy choices that could exacerbate hunger in America. Highlighting statistics from New Mexico where one in five children face food insecurity and over 470,000 residents rely on SNAP benefits, she tweeted: "Hunger is a policy choice."

Later that same day, Rep. Stansbury reacted to comments made by Trump's Commerce Secretary regarding Social Security checks potentially not being distributed to seniors without complaint. She expressed her concern about the administration's approach with a strong statement: "This is how dangerous and out of touch this Administration is."
