Today, Mayor Tim Keller recognized eight individuals for their contributions to the Albuquerque community through the Volunteer of the Month and One Albuquerque Awards. The event celebrated recipients from November, December, and January for their dedication and service.
The honored community members were acknowledged for diverse efforts such as providing life-saving assistance, teaching financial literacy, promoting animal health and adoptions, building Little Free Libraries, and volunteering at city shelters to support the unhoused.
The Volunteer Award Recipients included Tim West for Little Free Libraries; Stacey George and Emily Santa Marie for Animal Welfare; Erika Mcbee and Duke Jackson for Health, Housing & Homelessness. Meanwhile, Enrique Ochoa from Volcano Vista High School; Lorenzo Garcia, a driver for Solid Waste; and Evelyn Blanco from First Financial Credit Union received the One Albuquerque Award.
“These selfless volunteers show us what it means to step up and lend a hand when it matters most,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Their dedication reminds us that when we work together, we can tackle big challenges and make real, lasting impact in our community.”
Erika Mcbee expressed her enthusiasm: “I love reading to children and being a part of a community that encourages others to give back. It was truly inspiring to hear the stories of the other award winners, and I’m honored to be recognized alongside them.”
