An inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Bernalillo County passed away on Monday, November 18. The deceased has been identified as Deana Marie Harry, aged 30. According to reports, she was booked into the facility around 3 a.m. and was found in distress later that evening at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Upon discovering her condition, MDC staff and a medical team from UNM Hospital were alerted and began life-saving procedures. Despite their efforts, Harry was pronounced dead by hospital staff at around 9:10 p.m. Her family has been informed of her passing.
A comprehensive review of the incident is currently being conducted by MDC officials. Support services are being offered to both inmates and staff affected by this event.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was notified about the situation and responded accordingly. As part of standard procedure, the incident is under investigation by both the MDC Office of Professional Standards and BCSO.
