ALBUQUERQUE – ABQ RIDE is offering substantial hiring incentives to fill dozens of critical positions at the Transit Department’s 5th rapid hire event. The ABQ RIDE Hiring Event will take place on Friday, July 26 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Ken Sanchez Transit Facility located at 8001 Daytona Road NW.

Upon arrival, interested applicants will receive on-site HR support to help with the application, same-day interviews, Q&A with current employees, hands-on bus demos, facility tours, free drinks, and the chance to eat at Rosey’s New Mexican Grill food truck. The HR team is prepared to make conditional job offers on-site.

“In just a few hours, you can expedite your application two to three weeks ahead of the standard hiring process,” said Transit HR Manager Thomas Martinez. “The three-hour whirlwind of paperwork, scheduling, talking through benefits, meeting with healthcare providers, and interviewing is well worthwhile to begin your new career.”

“These are good, stable jobs that can be game changers for individuals and their families,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Whether you’re driving a bus or maintaining it, you’ll find personal and professional reward, along with the satisfaction of knowing you’re a key component in keeping our community connected.”

Featured ABQ RIDE available positions and hiring incentives include:

- Motorcoach Operator: $500-$5,000

- Sun Van Chauffeur: $750

- Vehicle Servicer: $750

- Mechanic II: $1,000-$2,500

- Mechanic III: $2,500-$5,000

- Mechanics Helper

- Transit Support Service Representative

The event will also recruit Albuquerque Police Department Transit Safety Officers to support the City’s transit operations.

“We couldn’t keep the wheels turning and the buses on the road without our drivers, mechanics, and Transit staff,” said Transit Director Leslie Keener. “It’s challenging work and that’s why we hope these hiring incentives will sweeten the deal to onboard dedicated employees who want a long-time career working for the City.”

ABQ RIDE’s Training Center mentors and trains new drivers in a supportive team environment to ensure they are set up for success. Each cohort learns both hard and soft skills with respect as a core value in conjunction with defensive driving techniques, passenger management, emergency procedures, and the role of a dedicated public servant.

“Join and grow old with the ABQ RIDE team as a Motorcoach Operator and enjoy all the benefits offered,” said ABQ RIDE’s Training Center Division. “You will receive comprehensive training to prepare you for your commercial driver’s license exam and acquire other skills that will help you thrive in your role as a public servant.”

Beyond hiring incentives, the City of Albuquerque provides employee benefits packages. Information about available jobs, the ABQ RIDE Hiring Event, and hiring incentives can be found on the City of Albuquerque website.
