APD arrests suspect in series of antique shop burglaries

Detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department’s Burglary Unit have charged and arrested David Johnson, 55, who was listed on the department’s Top 10 Burglary Offender List.

The investigation began as detectives worked on a serial burglary case targeting businesses throughout the city. The affected businesses included Old Town Antiques, U Neek Findings, Lil’s Collectables, Antique Specialty Mall, Jackalope, Summit Electrical Supply Store, McDade-Woodcock Inc., Thomason Stone Supply, and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gym.

Through their efforts, detectives identified Johnson as the offender. He was known to officers due to his placement on the Top 10 Burglary Offender List. Further identification was made through photo arrays and assistance from witnesses.

Johnson faces multiple charges including three counts of larceny over $20,000; four counts of larceny over $2,500; two counts of larceny over $500; seven counts of non-residential burglary; three counts of criminal damage to property over $1,000; three counts of criminal damage to property under $1,000; five counts of receiving stolen property under $250; one count of receiving stolen property over $250; and one count of larceny under $250.

David Johnson is currently in custody and has been rebooked on his new warrant.
