The College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences (CULLS) is set to benefit from a significant boost following a generous $1 million donation from Jim and Mary Lois Friday Hulsman. The donation aims to establish two new endowments that will enhance academic and professional development opportunities within the college.

Leo Lo, the dean of the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences, expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am profoundly moved by the generosity of Jim and Mary Lois Friday Hulsman. Their million-dollar donation marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of our college."

The first endowment, named the Mentorship Endowment for Libraries, will focus on enriching the college's mentorship culture by providing training opportunities for mentors and offering stipends and scholarships to incentivize participation in mentorship programs.

The second endowment, the Technological Advancement Endowment, aims to propel scholarship, professional development, and technological empowerment within the college. This endowment will provide scholarships for students interested in integrating technology with their academic work, as well as professional development funds for faculty and staff to stay updated on emerging technologies.

The establishment of these endowments reflects CULLS' commitment to fostering innovation and ensuring that students and educators are well-equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

In response to the generous donation, Dean Leo Lo extended his gratitude to the Hulsmans, stating, "The Mentorship and Technological Advancement Endowments embody our relentless pursuit of excellence in education and our commitment to creating a nurturing and technologically advanced academic environment. On behalf of the CULLS community, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hulsmans."

The impact of these endowments is expected to shape the future of education and research within the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences.
