On Saturday we unveiled and dedicated a beautiful new park bench (located along a walking trail near Second & Willow Road NW) to our former Bernalillo County Parks, Recreation and Open Space employee, Mr. Sal Torrez.
Sal worked for the county for 25 years before passing away July 8, 2021, four months after he retired from the county. He served as an assistant area foreman for the north area of Bernalillo County. Co-workers say he took pride in providing a safe and joyful experience for those who spent time in county parks and open spaces.
Sal was a great asset to our team and he brought his best to work every day. Employees like Sal are what make Bernalillo County government what it is today, so it was an honor for us to be able to dedicate this bench in his memory.
