Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on April 6.
Deputy D. Gomez was tasked with the custody of an arrestee who needed surgery. As a sworn deputy to protect the public, he needed to be within a safe distance of the arrestee. Deputy D. Gomez put on the appropriate attire to fulfill his duties to ensure the safety of the hospital staff.
