The New Mexico Republican Party showcased the candidacy of Ryan Alexandra Chavez for District 18 Senator, sharing her statement on Facebook recently.
Chavez, a native of New Mexico, has worked in the governor’s office as a political analyst providing her an in-depth look at how state government functions or doesn’t function, she wrote in her statement.
Chavez said the political disfunction in Santa Fe has encouraged her to act and run for public office.
“Our students can thrive, our economy can soar, and our communities can be safe and bright – but not with the same old ideas and worn our approaches,” she wrote.
In light of the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the economy and state’s businesses, Chavez also encouraged the public to support the public businesses, particularly the restaurants. Restaurants have been among the hardest hit since a stay-at-home order was issued.
The New Mexico Primary Election is currently scheduled for June 2 with the General Election slated to take place Nov. 3.
