Six candidates have been certified by the Office of the City Clerk for public financing in Albuquerque’s 2025 City Council election. The candidates are Ahren Griego and Daniel Leiva for District 1, Klarissa Peña for District 3, Dan Lewis for District 5, Tammy Fiebelkorn for District 7, and Renee Grout for District 9.

According to the Office of the City Clerk, “Public financing helps keep Albuquerque elections fair, local, and focused on the issues that matter to our community.”

Public financing is designed to support a level playing field among candidates and aims to reduce the influence of private money in local campaigns.
