Rep. Stefani Lord, a Republican elected to the New Mexico State House in 2021 representing the state’s 22nd House district, has used her social media platform to voice criticism of recent gun control legislation and express support for a local mayoral candidate.

On December 4, 2025, Lord questioned the logic behind proposed gun control bills and their focus on gun stores rather than criminals. She wrote: “Punishing the gun stores for not being psychic, but never punishing the criminals! Where do progressives dream up these crazy bills? Checks from Gifford? Soros? Moms Demand Attention? #progun #2a #NewMexico #secondamendment”.

Two days later, on December 5, 2025, Lord addressed what she described as continued legislative efforts by Democrats in New Mexico that target legal gun owners and dealers instead of focusing on criminal activity. She stated: ” Another Gun Bill That Misses the Mark Democrats in New Mexico are once again targeting legal gun owners and dealers and not criminals. Let’s review: 2017: They passed a universal background check law. They said it would stop criminals from getting guns. It didn’t. “.

In a separate post on December 7, 2025, Lord highlighted an endorsement from an Albuquerque Journal columnist for Darren P. White’s mayoral campaign. She encouraged voter participation ahead of Election Day with the message: “Albuquerque Journal’s Columnist has endorsed @darrenPwhite for Mayor of Albuquerque, writing: ‘We need a workhorse right now, not a show pony.’ GO VOTE TUESDAY For a better Albuquerque! Voting sites will be open on December 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m”.

Lord succeeded Gregg Schmedes as representative for District 22 after her election in 2021.
