Rep. Stefani Lord, a Republican member of the New Mexico State House representing the 22nd district since 2021, has recently used her social media platform to comment on juvenile crime legislation, gun ownership, and education rankings in New Mexico.

On August 8, 2025, Lord reiterated her stance regarding Bennie’s Law, stating: “I said this when debating Bennie’s Law: It will not prevent juvenile crime.”

The following day, on August 9, she shared an opinion piece by Zachary Fort and referenced polling data about perceptions of violent crime in New Mexico. In her post she wrote: “Great op-ed by Zachary Fort at @NM_SSA

‘A recent poll shows what New Mexicans already know: Crime isn’t driven by responsible gun owners — it’s driven by criminals. Seventy-six percent of voters blame violent crime on the people committing the crimes, not the firearms they”

On August 10, Lord commented on state education rankings with a direct statement: “REP. LORD: ‘NEW MEXICO RANKED THE WORST SCHOOL SYSTEM IN THE NATION, AGAIN'”

Lord was elected to office in 2021 after replacing Gregg Schmedes as representative for New Mexico’s 22nd House district.
