Rep. Melanie Stansbury, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, used her social media platform on October 5, 2025, to highlight recent community engagement efforts and honor educators.
In a post from October 5, Stansbury thanked participants at a recent event: “This is what democracy looks like! Thank you to everyone who came out to our Town Hall on Friday to ask questions, share your concerns, and take part in our democracy.
Thank you also to NM State House Speaker @JavierForNM, for showing up and all of our legislators who are on https://t.co/EtaE1DmcaL“. The message was posted following a town hall meeting that took place the previous Friday.
Later that day, Stansbury recognized World Teacher Day with another message: “Happy World Teacher Day! Today, we honor the incredible educators who dedicate their lives to nurturing young minds and shaping their future.
Our educators are also mentors, counselors, and advocates. They show up every day for our kids, so we must show up for them. That means” (October 5).
She also addressed constituents who were unable to attend the government shutdown town hall by providing access to a livestream: “Didn’t make it to our government shutdown Town Hall on Friday? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
You can watch the livestream here: https://t.co/xWpU06Y5OD” (October 5).
Melanie Stansbury has held her congressional seat through several election cycles. In 2024 she won against Steve Jones with 56.4% of the vote; in 2022 she defeated Michelle Garcia Holmes with 55.8%; and in 2021 she prevailed over Mark Moores with 60.4%.
