A power outage at the Bernalillo County Emergency Communications Center on September 16, 2025, has disrupted local 9-1-1 dispatch operations. Due to this incident, some emergency calls are being rerouted to the Albuquerque Police Department.

Maintenance teams are currently working at the site to resolve the issue. Residents are advised to continue using 9-1-1 for emergencies as usual.

The county stated, “For emergencies, residents should continue to call 9-1-1 as usual.”

Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

Separately, concerns about public safety in Bernalillo County have been highlighted recently. The District Attorney has expressed frustration over suspects violating GPS monitoring rules and returning to the streets without proper supervision. One example involved Jawid Yaqubi, who was accused of firing a gun near family members in Albuquerque. Despite efforts by the DA’s office to keep him in custody pending trial for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, he was released by a judge.
