Representative Melanie Stansbury, who serves New Mexico’s 1st congressional district, recently posted a series of messages on her social media accounts reflecting on her work during the August District Work Period, expressing support for labor on Labor Day, and emphasizing the importance of the rule of law.

On August 31, 2025, Stansbury wrote: “As we gear up to head back to DC, I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you who showed up during the August District Work Period to share your hopes and dreams for NM-01 and this country. Every word, every idea, and every story is one I will take back with me”.

The following day, September 1, 2025, she acknowledged workers across various sectors in a Labor Day message: “Happy Labor Day! Today and every day we stand with Labor and honor the workers who power our communities and economy. From teachers and healthcare workers to farmers, tradespeople, public servants, and firefighters—we are grateful for your service! Together we are fighting for”.

On September 2, 2025, Stansbury highlighted her commitment to constitutional principles: “The rule of law matters. The separation of powers matters. The Constitution matters. We are a nation of laws, and no one is above the law “.

Stansbury has represented New Mexico’s 1st congressional district since winning a special election in 2021 against Mark Moores. She retained her seat in subsequent elections by defeating Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 and Steve Jones in 2024. These victories have established her as a consistent presence in Congress for her district.
