U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, who serves New Mexico, recently posted a series of messages on her Twitter account inviting the public to community events and highlighting local initiatives.
On August 1, 2025, Stansbury announced an upcoming event focused on women in leadership: “Come join us Aug. 8th for a conversation about women in leadership! I’m honored to join these incredible women who are leading the way in New Mexico. We hope to see you all there! RSVP today! @reenaszcz @DayHochmanVigil https://t.co/NHLVoZAJcJ”
The following day, she shared reflections on her ongoing work in the state: “We are back in New Mexico—celebrating the resilience of our communities, meeting with local leaders, and talking about the work ahead to ensure every New Mexican has the opportunity to thrive. As we do this work every day on the ground we’re also deep in the fight to protect https://t.co/dmq6eVLPA0” (August 2, 2025).
Later that evening, Stansbury marked Black Business Month with a call for community engagement: “August is #BlackBusinessMonth! This month and every month, we celebrate the strength, creativity, and resilience of Black entrepreneurs who push the boundaries and build community across our state. What are your favorite black owned businesses in New Mexico? Tag them below! https://t.co/aGYSghaXkh” (August 2, 2025).
Stansbury has maintained her seat through several recent elections. In 2024 she won against Steve Jones with 56.4% of the vote; prior victories include defeating Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 and Mark Moores in a special election held in 2021.
