U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, who serves New Mexico’s 1st congressional district, recently used her social media platform to connect with constituents and highlight legislative efforts.

On August 10, 2025, Stansbury invited residents to a community event, writing, “Join us on Monday for a Town Hall in your neighborhood! Come out and share your hopes, dreams, and concerns for NM-01 with me and my team! RSVP here: https://t.co/XuDI6Smuyn https://t.co/0krTkhMKdi”.

Three days later, on August 13, she shared an update from Valencia County: “Today we are in Valencia County visiting with some of the communities we are so proud to serve—and wanted to take a moment to share a little about the Tomé Land Grant and its important role in New Mexico history. Every day we are so grateful to work alongside our communities https://t.co/U5jsNzmiJV”.

Later that same day, Stansbury addressed Social Security protections: “Proud to be on the frontlines in the fight to protect Social Security. Let me be clear—Social Security is not a luxury—it is YOUR hard-earned money. That is why I introduced the “Hands Off Our Social Security Act” to protect Social Security from privatization, from being https://t.co/dPqRnvqFPM”.

Melanie Stansbury has maintained her seat through several election cycles. In 2024, she defeated Steve Jones with 56.4% of the vote; in 2022, she prevailed over Michelle Garcia Holmes with 55.8%; and in 2021 she won against Mark Moores with 60.4%. These victories have established her as a consistent representative for New Mexico’s first district.
