Melanie Stansbury has served as U.S. Representative for New Mexico’s 1st District since replacing Deb Haaland in 2021. She previously held office in the New Mexico House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. Born in Farmington in 1979 and currently residing in Albuquerque at age 44, Stansbury has won several elections for her seat—including victories over Steve Jones in 2024 (56.4% of votes), Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 (55.8%), and Mark Moores in a special election in 2021 (60.4%).
