On March 30, 2026, Stansbury announced an update about a state investigation into crimes connected to Jeffrey Epstein. She wrote: ” New Mexico Truth Commission Update We’re taking action for survivors in New Mexico. Our bipartisan truth commission is investigating, and the state DOJ will pursue accountability for those who were involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.” This post highlighted efforts by a bipartisan commission and the state Department of Justice to address past abuses.
Later that day, Stansbury shared news related to federal funding for local projects: “I am SO PROUD to announce this year’s Community Project Funding requests—including more than $144 million for 20 project across NM-01! This is what it’s all about “ The announcement underscored significant investments directed toward infrastructure and services within her congressional district.
In another post recognizing National Doctors’ Day on March 30, she acknowledged healthcare professionals across the state: “Today on National Doctors’ Day, we’re celebrating all of the incredible doctors and healthcare workers across New Mexico who care for our communities every day. We’re also working to expand the pipeline—through my Indian Health Service Provider Expansion Act—which would scale up”
Melanie Stansbury has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Deb Haaland in 2021. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. Born in Farmington in 1979 and currently residing in Albuquerque, Stansbury has won several elections representing her district; most recently defeating Steve Jones in the 2024 general election with approximately 56% of the vote.
