U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, a member of the House Oversight Committee, posted a series of statements on September 21, 2025, addressing concerns about government integrity and free speech.

In her first post, Stansbury wrote, “Crime. Corruption. Coverups. This is the signature move of this Administration. You better bet we’ll be investigating. @OversightDems https://t.co/GuXla8rRQM” (September 21, 2025). In a subsequent tweet the same day, she addressed issues related to constitutional rights: “The First Amendment is under attack. No matter what your political views, we must protect free speech—our democracy literally depends on it! https://t.co/3dR8tb4h4r” (September 21, 2025). Later that afternoon, she added a brief statement: “This is not normal. https://t.co/TgfrttZgvB” (September 21, 2025).

Melanie Stansbury has represented her district since winning a special election in 2021 and securing reelection in both 2022 and 2024. In the most recent contest in 2024, she defeated Steve Jones with approximately 56% of the vote to his roughly 44%. Previously in 2022 and 2021, she prevailed over Michelle Garcia Holmes and Mark Moores respectively.

Her recent posts reflect ongoing debates within Congress regarding oversight of executive actions and protections for constitutional freedoms such as free speech.
