Rep. Melanie Stansbury, a U.S. Representative from New Mexico, has recently addressed redistricting issues in Ohio and Missouri, as well as shared updates about her time spent in her home state. Her series of tweets highlighted concerns over potential partisan gerrymandering and celebrated local community engagement.

On July 27, 2025, Stansbury posted about Ohio’s ongoing redistricting process: “Hey Ohio! Your state is redistricting! As my dear friend @RepEmiliaSykes explains—your maps were already found to be unconstitutional. But now, your legislature and gov could use the opportunity to try to cheat in the 2026 election. And nobody likes a cheater. Especially in the”.

Addressing another state on July 28, 2025, she wrote: “Good afternoon, Missouri! Your state MIGHT be redistricting! As @RepWesleyBellMO of St. Louis explains—they could be coming for the beloved @repcleaver’s seat in Kansas City to try to keep power in the House. Nobody likes a cheater!

That’s why it’s time to organize and mobilize”.

On July 29, 2025, Stansbury shifted focus back to her home district with a message celebrating New Mexico: “Home sweet home! Our entire crew is back in Burque spending time across our communities, celebrating New Mexico, our history, our people and the future of our state. From Tijeras and Carnuel to Old Town Plaza, Sandia Pueblo to the top of Sandia Peak, Bernalillo to the IPCC—we’re”.

Melanie Stansbury has held her congressional seat since first winning a special election against Mark Moores in 2021 with approximately 60% of the vote. She retained her position by defeating Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 with about 56% support and won re-election again in 2024 against Steve Jones with nearly the same margin.

Redistricting has been a contentious issue nationally as states redraw legislative maps following each census cycle. In recent years, courts have found several states’ maps unconstitutional due to partisan gerrymandering or violations of voting rights protections.
