U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, who has a history of electoral victories in New Mexico, used her social media platform on October 15, 2025, to comment on ongoing political developments in the House of Representatives and national policy issues.

In her first post of the day, Stansbury addressed the ongoing government shutdown and the actions of House Republicans. She wrote, “We’re baaaack! Again! But the House GOP lockout continues. Regardless, we show up—because we know the assignment and are here to fight for a solution to reopen the government and save healthcare for millions.” (October 15, 2025).

Later that night, Stansbury advocated for the seating of a new member of Congress from Arizona. She stated, “Swear her in! We’re here to demand @AdelitaForAZ be seated and justice for our AZ neighbors.” (October 15, 2025).

In a third post the following afternoon, Stansbury commented on federal spending priorities during the government shutdown. She wrote, “Breaking news! 15 days into a government shutdown, and Trump has promised a $40 billion bailout to the Argentinian government on the backs of the American people using YOUR taxpayer dollars, while threatening to cut off food assistance to American families. @RepAngieCraig” (October 15, 2025).

Stansbury represents New Mexico in Congress and has secured multiple electoral victories in recent years. In 2024, she defeated Steve Jones with 56.4% of the vote; in 2022, she won against Michelle Garcia Holmes with 55.8%; and in 2021, she prevailed over Mark Moores with 60.4%.
