U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury used her social media platform on January 8 and 9, 2026, to comment on recent legislative actions and address concerns about violence in American communities.
On January 8, Stansbury posted: “This is a HUGE WIN for the American people! Today, House Democrats forced a vote on a 3-year extension of the ACA healthcare credits to ensure millions of Americans don’t lose care. This is a big deal. Now on to the Senate!” The statement referred to efforts by House Democrats to extend Affordable Care Act healthcare credits.
Later that evening, she posted another message: “This must stop. Now.” The following day, Stansbury addressed ongoing violence with another post: “The violence against our communities must stop. Two more shot last night. That’s why I will be joining in filing articles of impeachment against Secretary of DHS Noem.”
Melanie Stansbury has represented her district through several election cycles. In 2024, she defeated Steve Jones in the general election with 56.4% of the vote compared to Jones’ 43.6%. In previous elections, she won against Mark Moores in 2021 with 60.4% of the vote and Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 with 55.8%.
