U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, who has won several recent elections in New Mexico, addressed multiple issues on her social media account on August 18, 2025. Her posts covered concerns about the Rio Grande’s condition, support for Ukraine, and the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

In a post early that morning, Stansbury responded to questions regarding the state of the Rio Grande: “I know many are asking what is going on with the Rio Grande and why our river is dry. Here’s what’s going on #SaveTheRioGrande https://t.co/GOdWkPCI0q” (August 18, 2025).

Later that day, she expressed solidarity with Ukraine amid ongoing international tensions: “We stand with Ukraine and global democracy! “ (August 18, 2025).

In another statement posted in the evening, Stansbury commented on protests related to the conflict in Gaza: “Millions have raised their voices, including thousands in the streets yesterday calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The unrelenting and escalating violence, mass starvation, and annexation being carried out by Netanyahu and his allies are not only a blatant violation of https://t.co/SHC0q2hNtC” (August 18, 2025).

Melanie Stansbury has represented New Mexico after winning multiple elections over recent years. In 2024 she defeated Steve Jones with 56.4% of the vote; in 2022 she prevailed over Michelle Garcia Holmes with a margin of nearly eleven percentage points; and in a special election held in 2021 she won against Mark Moores by approximately twenty-five points.
