Stansbury has represented New Mexico’s 1st congressional district since winning a special election in 2021 against Mark Moores by securing approximately 60% of the vote. She retained her seat in subsequent elections, defeating Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 with nearly 56% support and Steve Jones in 2024 with over 56% as well.
