U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico used her social media platform to address concerns from constituents and highlight recent legislative achievements in the state, according to a series of posts made between October 5 and October 6, 2025.

On October 5, Stansbury reflected on a recent town hall event where she interacted with local residents. She stated, “At our town hall on Friday, hundreds turned out asking the same questions we’re all asking: Will we get paid? Will we keep our healthcare? Will our democracy survive this chaos? I hear you. I see you. And that is why we are fighting to protect our democracy and our communities.”

The following day, Stansbury shared her perspective on developments in New Mexico’s legislature and her engagement with federal workers and local communities. On October 6, she wrote, “A truly joyful several days in New Mexico—seeing our Legislature pass critical legislation to protect New Mexico’s access to healthcare, food assistance, vaccines, and public broadcasting—and spending time in our communities, hearing from federal workers and communities, and”.

Later that morning as she prepared to return to Washington D.C., Stansbury posted another message aimed at reassuring constituents during uncertain times. She said on October 6: “A little pep talk as we head back to DC this morning. I know it’s scary and overwhelming watching what’s happening right now—but history tells us we must keep showing up and doing our part—which is why I’m headed back to DC today!”

Melanie Stansbury has represented New Mexico in Congress since winning a special election in 2021 against Mark Moores. She subsequently secured re-election victories over Michelle Garcia Holmes in 2022 and Steve Jones in 2024.
