Job Training Albuquerque (JTA), a workforce initiative by the City of Albuquerque in partnership with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), has reached significant benchmarks as of July 31, 2025. The program has enrolled 3,433 workers from 374 small businesses based in Albuquerque. This participation has led to the creation of 1,510 new jobs and an increase of $74.8 million in local employee earnings.
Businesses involved in JTA report that employees who completed the training saw an average wage increase of nearly 25%. The program serves various industries such as technology, healthcare, hospitality, and construction. It also supports diverse business ownership, with 37% female-owned, 34% minority-owned, and almost 7% LGBTQ-owned businesses participating.
“Job Training Albuquerque is proving that when we invest in our people, we strengthen our entire economy,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Every new job, every wage increase, and every small business success story shows the power of this program. Now, with training opportunities in cutting-edge fields like quantum technology, we’re positioning Albuquerque as a city of the future.”
In July alone, JTA added 139 workers from 50 small businesses to its programs. Eight new businesses joined during this period. To address changing community needs, Three Sisters Kitchen was brought on as a new training provider offering specialized food and hospitality courses.
JTA is also expanding into emerging fields by supporting training for quantum technology roles. CNM Ingenuity will introduce the Quantum Technician Bootcamp this fall—a ten-week course open to participants without prior technical experience or college degrees. The bootcamp prepares individuals for entry-level jobs in the growing quantum sector where average salaries range between $80,000 and $90,000 per year.
“We’re excited to be adding our Quantum Technician Bootcamp to Job Training Albuquerque’s workforce development options,” said CNM President Tracy Hartzler. “This 10-week program is going to provide veterans, career changers, and small business employees with opportunities to secure high-paying careers in the fast-emerging field of quantum technology,”
“This is how we grow Albuquerque’s economy, by making training inclusive, practical, and forward-looking,” said Economic Development Director Max Gruner. “The addition of Three Sisters Kitchen and CNM’s Quantum Technician Bootcamp shows how JTA adapts to community needs while positioning our city for success in emerging industries.”
Since it began in 2020, JTA has offered free training programs that have helped thousands navigate workplace changes and improve productivity while building sustainable career paths for local residents.
