In related news, concerns have been raised about public safety in Bernalillo County. The District Attorney has expressed frustration over suspects being released without GPS monitors when they are supposed to have them. For example, Jawid Yaqubi was accused of threatening his sister with a gun and firing over his mother’s head at their home in Albuquerque. Despite the DA’s office arguing for him to remain in custody until trial on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the judge decided to release him.
