Early voting for the 2025 City of Albuquerque Runoff Election will begin on Monday, December 1, at 17 locations across the city. The runoff election was scheduled after no candidate for Mayor and City Council Districts 1 and 3 received more than half of the votes in the Regular Local Election.

Clerk Michelle S. Kavanaugh is urging residents to plan ahead, especially since the early voting period is shorter and there are fewer polling places on Election Day compared to November. “Clerk Michelle S. Kavanaugh is encouraging voters to make a plan to participate, especially with the shortened Early Voting period and fewer Election Day locations compared to the November election.”

Key dates include early voting from December 1 through December 6, and Election Day itself on Tuesday, December 9. Voters can also request absentee ballots.

For additional information about voting procedures or polling locations, residents can visit BerncoClerk.gov, call (505) 243-VOTE (8683), or email clerk@bernco.gov.

Meanwhile, concerns about public safety have been raised in Bernalillo County as some suspects are being released without GPS monitors despite court orders requiring them. The District Attorney’s office has expressed frustration over these incidents, such as in a recent case where Jawid Yaqubi was accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but was released by a judge despite efforts by prosecutors to keep him in custody until trial.
