The City of Albuquerque has released its calendar for the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Month, featuring a series of events that highlight the contributions and traditions of Hispanic communities in the region. The program includes cultural performances, art exhibits, concerts, and community gatherings.
The New Mexico State Fair will take place from September 4 to September 14 at Expo New Mexico in Albuquerque. The fair is an annual event that draws more than half a million visitors each year.
On September 5, the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) will host an opening reception for “What We Bring to the Table,” an exhibit celebrating NHCC’s 25th anniversary with works by artists who are part of the center’s daily operations.
Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque will present a dinner show on September 5 at its venue on Rio Grande Blvd NW, offering audiences a chance to experience traditional flamenco music and dance.
The Music from the Americas Concert Series returns on September 11 at UNM Keller Hall. This initiative is supported by several organizations including The UNM Department of Music and local consulates.
Hispanic Heritage Month officially begins with a kickoff event at Old Town Gazebo on September 12. According to organizers, this marks “a month-long celebration of the history and culture of U.S. Latino and Hispanic communities, recognizing their influence on American society.”
Several Fiesta Mexicana celebrations are scheduled across Santa Fe and Albuquerque between September 13 and September 15, focusing on Mexican independence.
A Maravilla Gala fundraiser hosted by NHCC Foundation is set for September 13 at The Clyde Hotel to mark NHCC’s quarter-century milestone.
Hispanic Heritage Day will be observed at NM Fairgrounds on September 14 with live performances throughout the day.
Other notable events include Globalquerque! world music festival at Civic Plaza on September 20; a Turkish-style brunch honoring Hispanic Heritage Month; and multiple tributes such as Ballet Folkórico Fiesta Mexicana’s Miguel Caro Tribute Show in November.
The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce will recognize business owners during its Hispanic Heritage Awards ceremony on October 18 at Crown Plaza hotel. Organizers state: “The awards are Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by embracing the unique tapestry of cultures, community, and entrepreneurs that have been woven together to create One Albuquerque – Recognizing business owners and awarding them for being the best in our community.”
Opera Southwest will stage “Dolores,” centered around farmworker solidarity during California’s Delano grape strike in late October through early November at NHCC.
Albuquerque’s Old Town Plaza hosts Dias de los Muertos festivities from October 24 through November 2. There will also be a South Valley Día de los Muertos Celebration with Marigold Procession on November 2.
Echoes of Albuquerque: A Collective Dialogue runs August through early October at Gallery One inside Civic Plaza NW, focusing on themes of creativity and accessibility in public policy discussions.
Throughout these weeks, residents can participate in activities designed to deepen appreciation for traditions that shape both local identity and broader American society.
